Programs: Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist A.A.S., Information Technology Network Administrator A.A.S., CISCO Network Professional A.A.S., CISCO Networking Associate Level 1 Certificate, Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist Level 1 Certificate, and CompTIA Linux+ Certification Preparation (OSA).

Course Description:

This course is an introduction to the Linux operating system. Includes Linux installation, basic administration, utilities and commands, upgrading, networking, security, and application installation. Emphasizes hands-on setup, administration, and management of Linux. Basic computer skills are required as well as an introductory operating systems course such as ITSC 1305.

Install, administer, and manage a Linux system; demonstrate proficiency with Linux utilities, commands, and applications; identify and resolve security-based issues; and integrate a Linux system into an existing network.

Industry Certification Focus: Experience hands-on preparation for the CompTIA Linux+ Industry Certification exam.

Technology Requirements: A student must have regular access to a computer with a reliable Internet connection (high speed is strongly recommended), a webcam/camera, and must be proficient with a computer and navigating the Internet.
