Programs: Information Technology Network Administrator A.A.S., Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist A.A.S, Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist Level 1 Certificate, CompTIA Security+ Certification Preparation (OSA), CompTIA Linux+ Certification Preparation (OSA), and Cyber First Responders (OSA).

Course Description:

This course covers the instruction in security for network hardware, software, and data, including physical security; backup procedures; relevant tools; encryption; and protection from viruses.

Apply National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidelines and other best practices; develop backup/recovery procedures to provide for data security; use desktop /device operating system features to implement security; identify computer and network threats and vulnerabilities and methods to prevent their effects; use tools to enhance network security; and use encryption techniques to protect network local and distributed systems data.

Industry Certification Focus: Experience hands-on preparation for the Security+ Industry Certification exam.

Technology Requirements: A student must have regular access to a computer with a reliable Internet connection (high speed is strongly recommended), a webcam/camera, and must be proficient with a computer and navigating the Internet.

Course Description:

This course covers the instruction in security for network hardware, software, and data, including physical security; backup procedures; relevant tools; encryption; and protection from viruses.

Apply National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidelines and other best practices; develop backup/recovery procedures to provide for data security; use desktop /device operating system features to implement security; identify computer and network threats and vulnerabilities and methods to prevent their effects; use tools to enhance network security; and use encryption techniques to protect network local and distributed systems data.

Industry Certification Focus: Experience hands-on preparation for the Security+ Industry Certification exam.

Technology Requirements: A student must have regular access to a computer with a reliable Internet connection (high speed is strongly recommended), a webcam/camera, and must be proficient with a computer and navigating the Internet.
